Monday - The Century: A New World 1981-1989 Tuesday - US History checkpoint Wednesday - Checkpoint discussion; Read the linked article and answer the follow-up question(s): Reaganomics - 1) Based on your reading, does it appear that Reaganomics worked? Explain. 2) Ronald Reagan's supply-side economics increased the federal deficit. Do you think the federal government should be allowed to operate with a planned deficit? Changing America - 1) Should the government play a role in retraining American workers who lose their "smokestack" jobs and lack skills for high-tech positions? Monday - APUSH Exam Review: Immigration - Open the PDF on the right (usual password), 1) read each of the excerpts and determine if they are pro or anti immigration (how do you know?) and 2) write a description of each of the pieces of legislation on page 3. Question of the day: To what degree have attitudes towards immigration changed or stayed the same since the the late 19th Century to present day? Tuesday: APUSH Exam Review: Reform and Progressive Movements - You need to compare/contrast the following movements between the periods of the 1830s-1840s and the Progressive Era (1890s-1920s). Describe each of the following (purpose, people/groups, location, etc) during the periods above. Temperance Education Prisons Treatment of the Mentally Ill Religion Utopian communities (this will only be in the 1830-1840s) Settlement Houses (this will only be in the Progressive Era) Question of the day: Explain why the period from roughly 1890 to 1920 is known as the "Progressive Era", giving at least 2 pieces of evidence. Also explain a piece of evidence which disproves or goes against the ideas of "Progressive Era".
