Monday: SURVEY ESSAY DUE The Money Race With your partner, create a Google Doc that is shared between the two of you and myself as editors ([email protected]), and research your assigned campaign donor, looking for: 1) who did they donate to? 2) amount donated 3) service/product (what do they do?) 4) why donate to that particular candidate? 5) research any legislation that would have helped, or can be traced back to that donor Tuesday: 2014 election spending 1) debrief from Monday's findings, 2) examine Citizens United case: Create a 2 column Pro/Con chart titled Citizens United v. Trouble with First Past the Post (Winner Take All) Alternative Vote Explained How the Electoral College works The Trouble with the Electoral College Complete the related GOOGLE FORM Over the long weekend, you need to read the Attack of the Super PACs article, answer the following questions and be prepared to have a seminar on Wednesday. Your answers will be turned in that day. 1) Based on the article, as well as your own knowledge, what are the positives regarding PACs? (Give at least 2) 2) What are the negatives? 3) Based on the article, even politicians have trouble with PACs. What are some of the confusing aspects of PACs? Use direct quotes from the article. 4) Explain whether you think PACs should be allowed to continue, or should be outlawed. Why? |
